Myanmar ships 68+ tonnes of coffee beans to Belgium in Oct

Green Gold Cooperative in southern Shan State exported 68.16 tonnes of coffee beans to Belgium in October 2024.
The Green Gold Cooperative is a cooperative of coffee farmers from Loilem and Hopong townships in southern Shan State. They have delivered up to 102.24 tonnes of coffee beans to international markets as of October in the current financial year beginning 1 April.
Myanmar’s coffee bean is primarily grown in PyinOoLwin, Mandalay Region and Shan State and its plantation is also found in Kayin and Chin states. There are 50,000 acres of coffee plantations across the country, comprising about 38,000 acres of Arabica plantation and 12,000 acres of Robusta plantation, the Agriculture Department said.
Myanmar’s annual coffee production is estimated at over 9,000 tonnes. Myanmar’s Arabica coffee penetrates global markets, including Switzerland, Chinese Taipei, China, Thailand, the US, the Islands, the UK, South Korea, Japan, Germany and the UAE.
