Southern Shan State’s dried tea leaves fetch high prices

Despite prices getting high, dried tea leaves produced from southern Shan State have been traded well, making farmers feel happy.

“The dried tea leaf trade is thriving here. For various reasons, traders from different cities converge simultaneously, driving up prices. Among dried tea leaves, green tea is mainly used in Yangon,” said Ma Kay Khine Soe from the Shwetoe wet and dried tea leaf trading from Pindaya Township.

However, wet tea leaf prices have fallen slightly as tea leaves harvested in Thadingyut are not durable enough to be made into wet form. “Generally, Monywa, Bago and Ayeyawady use ordinary dried tea leaf,” she added. — Thit Taw/ZS/ED
