Myawady made the most orders for ginger from Naungtaya in the southern Shan State, according to the ginger market in the town. Yangon, Mandalay, and Myawady are making ginger orders, and Myawady tops among them.

“The price of old ginger is K 2,800 per viss, and that of new ginger is K 2,000. Sales are good, and we send it to Mandalay, Yangon, and Myawady. Myawady ordered more. The selling price has not increased. Ginger season nearly ends,” said a ginger trader in Naungtaya.

Ginger’s price may rise slightly in the coming months as its season nearly ends. “I think the price of ginger will improve a little in the coming months. Its season nearly ends. If it goes up, it can be around K 3,100-3,200 from K 2,800 a viss. Not very much,” he said. 

Ginger farmers said that the price they sold to the warehouses in last October fell slightly, and they are relying more on the local market due to the low export.
