In addition to high domestic consumption, dried butterfly bean has also overseas orders, according to beans traders from Aungban Township.
Dried butterfly bean trade is better than that of wet buttery bean and price is better too. Now, dried butterfly beans are started available.
“At present, dried butterfly beans are just available. We called it dried bean. Butterfly bean season is too short, lasts just 2-3 months. Dried beans become available shortly after wet bean produced. Dried bean price is better and it has also overseas orders. Currently, we have orders from Thailand,” said Ma Nyo Lae Yi, a vegetables and fruits trader in Aungban Township.
Dried butterfly bean has domestic orders too and Yangon is the biggest. It is a most-consumed bean in Anyar (central Myanmar).
“It has also nationwide orders in the internal market. It is a most-consumed bean in Anyar. People in Anyar boil it until tender and serve it with tea. Among orders, Yangon’s order is the biggest. This bean is distributed to the lower Myanmar from Yangon’s Thiri Mingalar Market. Dried bean lasts nearly a year and goes decayed after a year. Wet bean will be available until the end of March,” she added.
