Agri businesses emphasize enhancing product quality to maintain competitive edge

According to MARD's estimations, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports reached approximately 520 million USD by the end of April, totaling 1.8 billion USD for the first four months of the year.This represents a growth of over 32% compared to the same period last year.The industry is expected to set a new export record this year, with exports surpassing 1 billion USD in the initial months. VINAFRUIT forecasts favorable export conditions in 2024, especially towards the Chinese market, where Vietnam exports 14 primary agricultural products. Businesses emphasize the necessity of enhancing product quality to maintain a competitive edge, especially as global markets, including China, impose stricter quality standards. Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen of VINAFRUIT highlighted the importance of quality for market success. The industry's current challenge is the high percentage of exports in fresh form, exceeding 80%. Investment in deep processing and product diversification is urged to add value. Mr. Ngo Xuan Nam and Mr. Le Thanh Hoa emphasized the need for strict compliance with food safety and health regulations to avoid market penalties and establish a distinct identity for Vietnamese agricultural products. March 2024 saw a significant increase in exports, indicating a positive trend in the industry.
