Avocado trade has increased in Shan State’s Taunggyi fruits market and Yangon and Mandalay are major buyers and price is fair.

“This is avocado season so the sale is pretty high. Shan State is the biggest avocado producer so we have nationwide orders, especially Yangon and Mandalay are major buyers. Avocado season begins in October through February or March. Price will decrease further when the production increases more. In November and December, the production is usually abundant. Even now the production has been plentiful and price becomes cheap,” said Ma Sandi Tayar, a fruits distributor from Taunggyi Township.

Avocado is a most-consumed fruit in Yangon and it is served as juice, said a fruits trader in Mayangon Township.

“Avocado consumption is high in Yangon because many people enjoy it, especially it is served as juice. Generally, avocado sale is high during this period,” he said.
